Manhas pays surprise visit to SSWB Office

JAMMU, Aug 24: Shamsher Singh Manhas, M.P Rajya Sabha, made a surprise visit to J&K State Social Welfare Board office today. During his visit to the camp office of J&K State Social Welfare Board at Pragati Bhawan, in Jammu, Shamsher Singh Manhas took stock of various activities financed by the Central Social Welfare Board and achievements so far attained by the State Social Welfare Board and he also interacted with Chairperson (MoS) J&K State Social Welfare Board to ascertain functioning of the State Board which is operating in the State for the last 61 years under the aegis of Central Social Welfare Board.
Prof. Nirmal Gupta (MoS) Chairperson of J&K State Social Welfare Board apprised him with the current activities going on and also discussed various problems being faced by the Board in question.
She apprised him of the efforts made so far to convert the J&K State Social Welfare Board into a very competent institution which can cater to the weaker sections, BPL people, desti tutes and handicapped, Senior Citizens as well as unemployed youth in the State. Prof. Nirmal Gupta gave a brief insight of the new initiatives which all together are novel and innovative concepts and if approved by the State Government as well as Central Government can change the lives of the people.
She also informed him that till now everybody who happens to be anybody is contacted to seek cooperation. But results are still awaited.
