Andrabi reviews Milad arrangements

SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, today convened a meeting to take stock of the arrangements being put in place for forthcoming Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (?).
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Engineer PDD, R&B, SE PDD, General Manager SRTC, RTO, besides officials of SMC, LAWDA, Police, Traffic, , Fire & Emergency Services, PDD, PHE, Health, SRTC and Wakf Board attended the meeting.
The Minister urged the concerned to work wholeheartedly so that lakhs of devotees who visit different shrines in Kashmir, particularly Hazratbal, Jenab Sahab Soura and Kailashpora, on Milad days don't feel any inconvenience.
During the meeting, the Minister was informed that for the convenience of the devotees, SRTC has arranged 70 passenger buses in Srinagar and direct bus service has also been made functional from all district headquarters.
The officials of RTO and Traffic police gave the detailed presentation of the route plans to tackle the huge rush of traffic on the eve of Milad. It was said that three Quick Reaction Teams have also been constituted by the Traffic Police to immediately resolve any inconvenience due to traffic jams anywhere on the routes leading to main venue of Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar.
It was given out that the Health Department has also setup various medical camps with all the necessary healthcare facilities in and around the Shrine and also along the route from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal. In addition to it 12 ambulances in Srinagar and 6 ambulances in every district have been made available to meet any exigency.
Similarly, it was said that SMC has deployed 70 additional workers for round the clock sanitation in and around the Hazratbal shrine, besides some mobile toilets have also been established at different locations. Inside the Shrine, the Wakf board has kept 40 employees exclusively for maintaining cleanliness.
Officials of PDD and PHE were directed to provide uninterrupted electricity, repair defunct lights around the Shrine premises and provide round the clock safe drinking water supply respectively.
The Minister directed the authorities of R&B department to repair all potholes and choked drains around the Shrine and its adjacent areas. He asked the LAWDA officials to ensure the cleanliness of the pond near Dal Lake.
He asked all the departments to ensure all arrangements well in time to facilitate the devotees paying obeisance at the shrine and said that he will personally monitor the arrangements during all these days. He also directed the Wakf Board authorities to ensure proper flooring and heating arrangements, besides comfortable tents in and around the Shrine so that devotees do not face any kind of inconvenience.
