J&K Handicapped Association presents Memorandum to Governor

SRINAGAR: A large delegation of the J&K Handicapped Association, Srinagar, called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented to him a Memorandum of their problems and demands.
The demands presented by the 11-member delegation led by Mr. Abdul Rashid Bhat, President of the Association, included, interalia, provision of land for construction of office of the Association, providing a specially designed vehicle to the Association suitable for meeting the requirements of the physically challenged, enhancement of monthly pension, free education to the children of physically challenged persons and establishment of an Advisory Board for Handicapped in the State. Other demands included bringing physically challenged under the ambit of Antyodaya Anna Yojana and setting up a separate Directorate for Disability Affairs in J&K.
Interacting with the delegation, the Governor observed that he would address the Chief Minister in regard to the establishment of an Advisory Board for Handicapped in the State as well as about the other issues raised by them.
Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present in the meeting.
The delegation comprised Mr. Aashiq Hussain Khan, Mr. Abdul Majeed Baba, Mr. Mohammad Altaf Bhat, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Naikoo, Mr. Javid Ahmad Tak, Mr. Mohammad Amin Sofi, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Pandit, Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhat, Mr. Hafeez Ullah Wani and Mr. Irshad Ahmad Geelani.
