Balwant felicitates Chairman and Director IIT Jammu for promoting local culture

Jammu, Oct 17: Director Natrang felicitated Dr. Sharad Kumar Saraf, Chairman and Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu for the promotion of art and culture of Jammu and Kashmir here at a function at the new auditorium of IIT Jammu. As an exclusive initiative IIT Jammu, ever since its inception in Jammu have been hosting a diverse range of cultural events showcasing the variegated variety of traditional art expressions.
This occasion provided a pan-India audience, exposure and the appreciation for the arts of Jammu & Kashmir. Fact remains that in all its five annual convocation events which witnessed the gathering of important guests from all-over India, IIT Jammu made it a point to treat their guests with a professionally designed and executed representative cultural event of Jammu & Kashmir. In 2023 convocation, IIT Jammu hosted the miniature event of Natrang's G20 Srinagar show which won global acclaim for its outstanding music, costumes, choreography and out of the world concept and direction. Speaking on the occasion Natrang Director Balwant Thakur while expressing his gratitude to IIT Jammu said that arts of Jammu & Kashmir need performance opportunity, appreciation, promotion and recognition and in this context IIT Jammu has been highly instrumental in providing all.
IIT Jammu in addition to the hosting of J&K cultural based performances have also held a series of workshops, interactions, and training programmes. To acquaint their students and the faculty members with the history of Jammu & Kashmir, they also showcased Natrang's popular film 'Gulab Gatha'. The recent presentation 'Colors of Jammu & Kashmir' which was showcased in the 5th convocation of IIT Jammu won accolades for being a unique cultural album of Jammu and Kashmir which featured the variegated variety of different colours, rhythms, costumes, design patterns and artistic expressions, expre-ssed through the diverse traditional dances of J&K.
This amazing bouquet of rarest dance traditions unfolded the mesmerizing artistic traditions of the crown of incredible India. Each dance presentation despite being different from the other in rhythm and pace was artistically and aesthetically blended with each other so as to present their harmony and wonderful correlation. On the occasion Balwant Thakur desired more and more such organisations to come forward and promote & support the end-eavours of Natrang aimed at bringing a new cultural renaissance in the region.
