Bhutan is a very special friend: PM Modi on meeting Bhutanese PM

NEW DELHI, Oct 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met with Bhutanese PM Tshering Tobgay, and said that Bhutan is a very special friend of India and the bilateral cooperation will continue to get even better in the times to come.
In a post on X, the PM said:
"Glad to have met you in Delhi this morning, PM Tshering Tobgay. Bhutan is a very special friend of India's and our cooperation will continue to get even better in the times to come."
The Bhutanese PM in a post said he was happy to have met his friend PM Modi and expressed his gratitude for India's steadfast goodwill and cooperation.
"Always happy to meet my friend, H.E. Prime Minister @narendramodi ji ; Expressed my gratitude to the Government & people of India for their steadfast goodwill & cooperation. We reaffirmed our commitment to advancing our special bond of friendship from strength to strength."
PM Modi also posted a picture of the Bhutanese PM sitting on a Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus in Delhi, and said the bus is part of India's efforts to boost sustainability and contribute to a greener future for the coming generations.
"I am delighted that PM Tshering Tobgay was able to sit on the Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus. Such a Bus is a part of our efforts to boost sustainability and contribute to a greener future for the coming generations."
The Bhutanese PM took the bus ride along with Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri.
The Ministry of Petroleum in a post on X said that Minister Puri "showcased India's advancements in Green Hydrogen to Prime Minister of Bhutan, @tsheringtobgay, and his delegation through a live demonstration of the Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus. This bus, powered by @IndianOilcl, is a game-changer - emitting no CO2 or pollutants, only pure water, and representing India's leadership in decarbonization.
"India is proud to be a global champion in Green Hydrogen, already deploying 15 Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses across metro cities. With innovative projects in hydrogen blending in natural gas pipelines, hydrogen electrolyzer tech localization, and bio-pathways for hydrogen production, we're driving an energy revolution.
"We are excited about working with Bhutan, a pioneer in sustainability and respect for nature, to share knowledge and explore opportunities for adopting green hydrogen mobility. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to the environment and clean energy, helping us meet decarbonization targets."
The Bhutanese PM said that he also had a discussion with Anurag Srivastava, JS (North) in the MEA.
"This evening, I also conversed with Mr. @AnuragSrivstava, Joint Secretary (North) of India's Ministry of External Affairs; we discussed ongoing collaboration and explored new opportunities to deepen our partnership."
Earlier, in the day, the Bhutanese PM interacted with EAM Jaishankar.
"I also interacted with H.E. @DrSJaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India. We talked about deepening our bilateral relations and explored new avenues for regional cooperation aligned with our shared goals."
The EAM said of the meeting in a post on X:
"Delighted to call on PM @tsheringtobgay of Bhutan in Delhi today.
"Value his steadfast guidance and support in taking forward the unique and time tested India-Bhutanese partnership."
On his meeting with the Petroleum Minister, the Bhutanese PM said:
"I also met with India's Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, H.E.
@HardeepSPuri. We discussed opportunities to enhance our collaboration particularly in the energy sector."
