2 militants killed, 2 security men injured in separate north Kashmir encounters

SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Two unidentified militants were killed, and two security personnel were injured in separate encounters in the twin districts of Bandipora and Kupwara in north Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.
While the operation in the Kupwara forest area, which began last night, has concluded, the anti-militancy operation in Bandipora is still underway.
The Bandipora operation started on Tuesday afternoon in the Chuntawadi Kaitsan area after joint forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on intelligence inputs.
"As the cordon was being established, terrorists opened fire, which was effectively retaliated. In the ensuing encounter, one terrorist was killed," officials said.
They added that an Army jawan and a CRPF personnel sustained injuries during the operation.
In a post on X, the Army's Srinagar based Chinar Corps confirmed the killing of one militant in Bandipora and said that the operation is ongoing.
In another encounter in Margi Lolab, Kupwara, an unidentified militant was killed. The joint forces launched this operation late on Tuesday based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area.
"On 05 Nov 24, based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched by IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice in general area Margi, Lolab, Kupwara. Contact was established and firefight ensued," Army said in a post on X.
Army said the operation successfully concluded, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist and the recovery of one AK rifle, two hand grenades, four AK magazines, ammunition, and other war-like stores.
It said that Chinar Corps remains steadfast in its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free.
