Two martyred killed in suspected IED blast in Akhnoor sector

JAMMU, Feb 11: Two Army personnel were killed in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in the Akhnoor sector, said the Army.
The White Knight Corps posted on X, "Suspected Improvised Explosive Device blast reported in #Laleali in #Akhnoor Sector during a fence patrol resulting in two fatalities."
"Own troops are dominating the area and search #operations are underway.
White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers," it further posted.
On Monday, an army jawan sustained a bullet injury along the Line of Control in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that an army Hawaldar received a bullet injury while he was guarding the border this afternoon in the Nowshera sector.
"He was immediately evacuated and shifted to the Army Hospital Rajouri," they said adding that his condition is stated to be stable.
He received an injury in suspected firing from across the border, they said.
Earlier on the same day, security forces had launched a search operation near the Line of Control in Poonch.
Official sources said that acting on specific inputs about the suspicious movement, a joint team of Army, police and special operation group launched searches in Mendhar, Krishna Ghati, Surankote and other border villages close to the Line of Control in Poonch district.
On Feb 8, Indian troops effectively retaliated to the firing by suspected terrorists along the Line of Control in Rajouri district.
Official sources said that the suspected terrorists fired a few rounds on the patrol party on LoC in Rajouri.
"The Indian Army troops effectively retaliated to the firing," they said adding that no injury was reported on the own side.
Meanwhile, on the intervening night of February 4-5, a major infiltration was foiled when a group of suspected terrorists believed to be killed in a landmine explosion on the Line of Control in the Battal area of Krishna Ghati Sector in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
