JAMMU, Feb 15: Babu Rampaul, former Minister and President JKNC Central Zone (Jammu, Samba and Kathua) today reiterated his demand for restoration of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir and urged the Prime Minister to fulfill his promise, which he made with the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Addressing youths during a meeting, Rampaul said that statehood is not just a political necessity but a constitutional and moral obligation that must be fulfilled at the earliest. The time for delays and empty promises is over; the people demand action," he asserted. The meeting was organised by Dr. Vikas Sharma, Coordinator Jammu District and Secretary of the Central Zone of JKNC and graced by Babu Rampaul, President of JKNC Central Zone, as the Chief Guest, while Ankush Abrol, Provincial Joint Secretary was the Guest of Honour.
Former minister maintained that the Central Government must understand that without restoration of statehood, Development, peace and prosperity are not possible in Jammu and Kashmir. Rampaul also raised serious concern over continuous growing crime activities in Jammu Division with people at large feeling insecurity to live peacefully in their homes.
He expressed his deep concern for rising criminal acts of broad daylight shooting and attacking houses for looting belongings without fear of law enforcement authorities.
Such acts of heinous crimes being perpetrated by criminals in and outside Jammu with impunity have been seen as unprecedented in the recent past, he bemoaned, adding that housewives, senior citizens children as well as ailing persons are finding themselves in deep shock and unsafe within the four walls of their homes.
He pointed out that such a sorry state of affairs emanating from dual control, which reflects the crumbling law and order situation with police and other law enforcement agencies operating in Jammu seem clueless as to how to tighten screws on the crime operators committing unlawful activities uninterruptedly.
Referring to reports of mental torture inflicted on Makhhan Din in police custody in Billawer, Distt Kathua leading to his suicide and killing of Waseem Ahmad Malla allegedly by the Army under mysterious circumstances, he apprehended that such untowards incidents are bound to create an avoidable sense of insecurity amongst people.
