3 family members from Mumbai among 4 dead, 21 injured in Ganderbal road accident

SRINAGAR, Mar 23: Four people, including three members of a family from Mumbai, lost their lives, and 21 others sustained injuries in a road accident in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Sunday morning, officials said.
The accident occurred near a CRPF camp at Gund when a passenger bus and an Etios vehicle collided head-on, leaving at least two dozen people injured. The Etios car, which was carrying tourists, suffered severe damage, resulting in the death of four occupants, including the driver.
Officials identified the deceased as Hetal Ashish Pari, Nikki Ashish, and Leisha Ashish, all residents of Satya Nagar, Borivali West, Mumbai. The fourth victim was the driver of the vehicle, Faheem Ahmad Badyari of Soiteng, Srinagar.
Following the accident, locals and rescue teams rushed to the spot, shifting the injured to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan for urgent medical treatment.
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
"Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on highway near Gund, Kangan, which has claimed several lives and left many others injured. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance," office of the chief minister said on X.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the tragic road accident in Gund area of Ganderbal.
In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor said: "I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of precious lives in a tragic road accident in Ganderbal today. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Praying for the early recovery of the injured".
