Raman Bhalla raises civic, political issues during Nanak Nagar visit

Jammu, May 14: Ram-an Bhalla on Wednesday raised issues related to unemployment, inflation, civic problems and delay in restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir during a mass contact programme at Nanak Nagar in Jammu.
The JKPCC working president interacted with residents, traders, youth and senior citizens of Ward-43 and listened to their grievances regarding irregular water supply, damaged roads, poor sanitation, erratic electricity supply and shortage of basic amenities. Former corporator Kulb-ushan Sharma, Jasvinder Lucky, Sanjay Murli, Avtar Singh, Ashwani Sethi, Babli Madam and Sanjeev Katal were among those present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Bhalla expressed concern over rising unemployment among educated youth, increasing prices of essential commodities and economic hardships being faced by middle-class families, small traders & daily wage earners.
He said inflation had severely affected household budgets and alleged that the Union Territory was witnessing inadequate employment opportunities for youth.
The Congress leader also referred to the delay in restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and said people were awaiting democratic empowerment & fulfilme-nt of commitments related to safeguarding democratic rights. Bhalla claimed that the absence of a fully empowered elected government had widened the gap between the administration and the public, resulting in unresolved gri-evances. Highlighting civic issues in Jammu city, he said residents were facing problems related to drainage, traffic congestion, sanitation, damaged lanes and shortage of public amenities in several areas.
He also raised national issues, including unemployment, inflation and economic disparity, and stressed the need for policies aimed at inclusive growth, employment generation and protection of public welfare. Bhalla reiterated that the Congress party would continue to raise public issues and demand restoration of full statehood, protection of democratic institutions and improved welfare measures for the people.
