Jammu, May 26: More than 100 hearing-impaired students and their parents participated in an anti-drug awareness march in Jammu on Tuesday in support of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign.
The programme was jointly organised by the Central Government Pensioners' Welfare Association (CGPWA), Jammu, and the Jammu and Kashmir Samaj Kalyan Kendra (SKK), which runs a school for hearing-impaired students.
The participants carried placards with anti-drug messages and appealed to people, particularly youth, to stay away from substance abuse and contribute towards building a drug-free society.
Several former senior officials and social activists, including former Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda and former DGP Dr. Ashok Bhan, participated in the programme and interacted with the students.
Earlier, the school administration administered a pledge to participants to support efforts aimed at eradicating drug abuse from society.
Addressing the gathering, speakers highlighted the harmful impact of drug addiction on individuals and families and stressed the need for collective efforts, awareness and rehabilitation measures to tackle the problem. Organisers said the programme aimed at creating awareness among youth and strengthening community participation in anti-drug initiatives.
