DBPS celebrates Acharya Chanakya birth anniversary as Vishwa Brahmin Divas

JAMMU, June 1: The Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) on Sunday celebrated the birth anniversary of Acharya Chanakya as Vishwa Brahmin Divas, with members of the Brahmin community paying tributes to the ancient philosopher, strategist and statesman.
A function was organised at the Sabha premises under the presidentship of Ved Parkash Sharma, who highlighted the significance of Vishwa Brahmin Divas in recognising the contributions of the Brahmin community to society and Indian traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, DBPS Chairman Advocate P.C. Sharma said that Vishwa Brahmin Divas, or World Brahmin Day, is observed on the birth anniversary of Acharya Chanakya, one of India's most revered philosophers, diplomats and political thinkers.
Several speakers, including NMC President Subash Shastri and former Deputy Commissioner B.S. Jamwal, recalled the life and teachings of Acharya Chanakya and described him as a symbol of wisdom, patriotism and intellectual excellence.
Senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma, Bawa Bhair Dev Sathan Trust General Secretary Romesh Sharma and former JMC Commissioner Soujanya Sharma paid rich tributes to Chanakya, highlighting his role as a renowned strategist, diplomat and author of the ancient treatise Arthashastra.
The speakers said Chanakya, also known as Kautilya, made lasting contributions to governance, economics and statecraft through his profound understanding of various subjects.
A large number of community members and representatives of social and religious organisations participated in the programme. Among those present were N.C. Sharma, M.L. Sharma, M.L. Padha, Pt. Barita Ram, Ritiz Khajuria, Sunil Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Jagan Nath Sharma, K.L. Sharma, Davinder Sharma, Gurdass Sharma, Sat Paul Sharma, Raman Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, former IFS officer Subash Sharma, Prem Balotra, Mohan Lal Sharma, Sanjeev Kerni, Krishan Lal Sharma and Girdhari Lal.
As part of the celebrations, Acharya Chanakya Chalisa was recited and Hawan Yajna was performed to mark the occasion.
