LG reviews flash flood situation in Kishtwar, Doda; directs restoration of essential services

SRINAGAR, Jun 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reviewed the situation arising out of flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall in Kishtwar and Doda districts and directed the district administrations to remain on high alert and ensure the swift restoration of essential services.
According to an official communiqué, the Lieutenant Governor spoke with the Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and Doda and took stock of the prevailing situation in the affected areas.
Sinha said that, according to reports received so far, no loss of life or major property damage had been reported due to the flash floods. He directed emergency response teams to remain vigilant and continuously monitor the situation.
The Lieutenant Governor instructed the district administrations to expedite the restoration of roads, highways and damaged water supply pipelines to minimise inconvenience to the public.
He also said that field staff and specialised medical teams had been placed on alert and that a detailed assessment of losses, if any, would be undertaken after field verification.
Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor expressed condolences over the death of Pinki Devi of Khuddhar in Doda district, who reportedly lost her life after being struck by lightning.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, to provide immediate relief and all necessary assistance to the bereaved family.
The administration, officials said, is closely monitoring the weather situation and remains prepared to respond to any emergency arising from adverse weather conditions.
