MHA assigns seniority to five IPS officers

JAMMU, Jun 22: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has assigned seniority and allotment years to five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers appointed to the IPS cadre in 2025, making them eligible for consequential service benefits.
According to MHA Notification No. I-15016/24/ 2025-IPS-I dated June 12, 2026, the officers have been assigned seniority based on their selection by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the Select Lists for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012.
As per the notification, Sunil Dutt has been allotted the year of allotment 2005. Abhay Kumar Mahajan and Rupender Kumar Chalotra have been assigned the year 2006, Rajnish Pran has been allotted 2007, while Ashok Kumar Sharma has been assigned the year 2009.
The officers had been inducted into the IPS cadre through the Ministry's notification dated August 5, 2025.
With the assignment of seniority, all five officers will now be entitled to consequential service benefits, including promotions, pensionary benefits and other financial entitlements in accordance with their revised seniority, in line with the orders of the Central Administrative Tribunal.
