LG Sinha performs ‘Pratham Puja’, says J&K ready to welcome Amarnath pilgrims

Srinagar, Jun 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday performed the 'Pratham Puja' at the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji, marking the ceremonial commencement of the annual pilgrimage, and said all arrangements have been put in place to ensure a safe and hassle-free Yatra beginning July 3.
Offering prayers at the shrine, the Lieutenant Governor sought blessings for peace, prosperity, good health and well-being of the people and extended an invitation to devotees from across the country to participate in the pilgrimage in large numbers.
"As the Yatra commen-ces on July 3, the administration, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, Army, Police, security forces, local community, service prov-iders and volunteers are working in complete synergy. Every stakeholder is devoted to ensuring a safe, hassle-free and memorable pilgrimage for all pilgrims," Sinha said. He said significantly upgraded infrastructure, enhanced facilities and the support of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have ensured complete preparedness for the annual pilgrimage.
"With significantly upgraded infrastructure, enhanced facilities, and invaluable support of the people of Jammu and Kas-hmir, we are fully prepared to welcome devotees for a spiritually fulfilling journey," the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board performs the 'Pratham Puja' every year on Jyeshtha Purnima ahead of the commencement of the pilgrimage.
The 57-day Amarnath Yatra will begin on July 3 simultaneously from the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the Baltal route in Ganderbal district, and will conclude on August 28 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor and CEO of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board Mandeep K. Bhandari, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Inspector General of Police Kashmir V.K. Birdi and other senior civil and police officials were present during the ceremony.
