IIM Jammu begins Holistic Orientation Programme for new academic batches

JAMMU, Jul 13: The Indian Institute of Mana-gement (IIM) Jammu on Monday commenced its five-day Holistic Orien-tation Programme 2026, welcoming the seventh batch of Ph.D. scholars, the 11th batch of MBA students, the fifth batch of MBA (Healthcare) and the inaugural batch of MBA (Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics).
The orientation programme is aimed at familiarising the new students with the institute's academic environment, values and culture of leadership, innovation and holistic development.
The inaugural ceremony began with a sapling plantation by Chief Guest Rajendra Singh Pawar, Chairman and Co-founder of NIIT Limited, and Guest of Honour Anil K. Agarwal, President of Cosmos Group India, symbolising the institute's commitment to environmental sustainability.
The event also featured a campus tour, ceremonial lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana.
The programme was attended by Dr. Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research, Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Chairperson (Admi-ssions), and Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Sunil Kant, Chairperson, MBA (Healthcare).
Addressing the students, Rajendra Singh Pawar encouraged them to embrace leadership, innovation and lifelong learning in an AI-driven knowledge economy.
He highlighted the importance of curiosity, creativity, communication and ethical leadership, urging students to use technology responsibly while contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Guest of Honour Anil K. Agarwal described IIM Jammu as a "temple of higher learning" and appreciated the institute's academic environment and infrastructure.
He encouraged students to complement technological advancements with critical thinking, ethical values and continuous learning while actively engaging with industry and society.
The institute said the orientation programme has been designed to facilitate a smooth transition into academic life while preparing students to become responsible, innovative and globally competent leaders.
