IIM Jammu continues orientation with focus on leadership and industry readiness

JAMMU, Jul 14: The Indian Institute of Man-agement (IIM) Jammu on Tuesday continued its Holistic Orientation Programme 2026 with a series of sessions aimed at promoting leadership, collaboration, institutional values and industry readiness among newly admitted students.
The orientation programme is being attended by students of the seventh batch of Ph.D., the 11th batch of MBA, the fifth batch of MBA (Healthcare) and the inaugural batch of MBA (Artificial Intelli-gence and Business Analytics).
The day began with a mindfulness and wellness session titled "Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness" conducted by Yoga Guru Sahil Mehra under the aegis of Anandam - The Centre for Happiness.
Prof. (Brig.) (Retd.) Dr. Neeraj Soni, Chairperson, Student Affairs, addressed the students on the institute's academic policies, rules and code of conduct. He urged them to uphold integrity,
self-discipline and ethical values while making the most of the learning opportunities available at the institute.
An outbound learning programme, conducted by faculty members Dr. Apoorva Shekher, Dr. Mythiri B. and Dr. Soumyadeep Bandyopad-hyay, engaged students in experiential learning activities, team-building exercises and communication challenges aimed at strengthening collaboration and interpersonal skills.
The afternoon session featured an address by Rajesh Sharma, Deputy General Manager, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), who spoke on leadership, the evolving energy sector and the global business environment.
He encouraged students to embrace challenges, view failures as learning opportunities and develop sound decision-making abilities.
Later, Ankit Jhamb, Chief Learning Officer at Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, interacted with the incoming MBA students and emphasised the importance of resilience, continuous learning and disciplined effort in achieving long-term professional success.
The institute said the orientation programme is designed to prepare students for academic excellence while equipping them with leadership qualities and industry-relevant skills.
