Dogri Sanstha concludes 15-day translation skill development workshop

JAMMU, Jul 15: Dogri Sanstha Jammu on Wednesday concluded its 15-day Skill Development Dogri Translation Work-shop for college students with a valedictory function held at its premises in Karan Nagar.
Principal of Govern-ment Degree College for Women, Parade, Dr Naveen Anand, was the chief guest, while Senior Superintendent of Police (Railways) Shailender Singh (JKAS) attended as the special guest. Also present were Prof. Lalit Magotra,
President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, Prof. Veena Gupta, Vice President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, and Dr Tarsem Raina.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Magotra said the workshop aimed at equipping young learners with practical skills in translation and subtitling while promoting Dogri language and literature. He stressed the importance of translation as a means of preserving and disseminating the region's literary heritage.
Dr. Naveen Anand congratulated the organisers for conducting a professionally designed workshop and urged participants to utilise the skills acquired to promote regional languages and explore career opportunities in translation and language services.
Shailender Singh appreciated the initiative, saying such programmes help strengthen linguistic abilities among youth while contributing to the preservation of the region's language and culture.
The participants also presented poetry recitations and essays highlighting their learning experiences during the workshop. The training sessions were conducted by Prof. Veena Gupta, Dr Nirmal Vinod, Prof. Archana Kesar, Rajeshwar Singh Raju and Sunil Sharma, who imparted practical knowledge on translation and subtitling through interactive sessions.
The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by Susheel Begana.
