JNEG expresses concern over losses in Rajouri, Poonch; seeks compensation for affected families

Jammu, Jul 19: The Jammu Newspaper Editors Guild (JNEG) on Sunday expressed concern over the loss of lives and damage to property caused by natural calamities in Rajouri, Poonch and other affected areas and urged the government to provide adequate compensation to the affected families.
The issue was raised during an emergency meeting of the Guild held at Lemon Tree Hotel here under the patronage of JNEG President-Patron A.K. Sawhney. The meeting was presided over by JNEG Chairman and State Times Editor-in-Chief Raj Daluja.
Speaking on behalf of the members, Sawhney expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives and extensive damage to property caused by the recent calamities. He demanded adequate compensation and necessary assistance for the affected families.
Senior Vice President Ram Dubey, Editor of KatuSatya, highlighted several issues and challenges being faced by the press fraternity and media establishments. He also drew attention to certain activities allegedly detrimental to the interests and objectives of the Guild.
The members deliberated on the issues in detail and unanimously condemned activities they said were against the interests of JNEG. Following discussions, it was resolved that individuals found indulging in such activities would not be invited to participate in future programmes and activities of the Guild.
The meeting reaffirmed JNEG's commitment to maintaining discipline and unity within the organisation and upholding the dignity and ethical standards of the journalistic profession.
JNEG Chief Spokesperson Vishal Chopra delivered the vote of thanks and assured the members that the Guild would continue to safeguard the interests of journalists and media organisations and take necessary initiatives to address the genuine concerns of the press fraternity.
Among others, Iqbal Shah Kazmi, Vinod Kumar, Ankush Mahajan, Sanjeev Chadha, Vicky Khalsa, Abhishek Kapoor, Rohit Mahajan and Ram Pal Sharma attended the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve
to further strengthen the organisation and uphold the principles of ethical journalism.
