NSD-Hima Kaul Kalanidhi theatre workshop concludes with staging of ‘Talkie Pather’

JAMMU, Aug 3: A 30-day theatre workshop jointly organised by the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, and Hima Kaul Kalanidhi concluded with the staging of the satirical play "Talkie Pather" at the auditorium of PSPS Government Women's College, Gandhi Nagar.
The play, presented as the final production of the workshop, featured young participants from Jagti Camp, many of whom made their stage debut after undergoing intensive training over the past month.
Based on a satire by noted Hindi writer Harishankar Parsai, the production was developed during the workshop and directed by noted theatre and film personality Bhasha Sumbli, with Sunil Soni handling acting training as well as set and music design.
The performance blended humour with social satire and received a standing ovation from the audience for the participants' confident portrayal and artistic expression.
Among those present were Kiran Wattal, Dr Kshama Kaul, Squadron Leader Anil Sehgal, Dr Agnishekhar and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Seema Anil Sehgal, who congratulated the participants and distributed certificates issued by the National School of Drama.
The dignitaries appreciated the organisers for providing a platform to nurture creativity, confidence and artistic talent among the youth.
The organisers said the initiative marked the first national-level theatre workshop conducted for the youth of Jagti Camp in collaboration with the National School of Drama.
The workshop highlighted theatre as a powerful medium for education, self-expression and social engagement, while the concluding performance celebrated the participants' artistic journey and their successful introduction to the world of theatre.
