FICCI FLO JKL signs MoU with GCW Parade to empower young women

Jammu, Aug 7: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh (JKL) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, Jammu, to promote leadership, entrepreneurship and skill development among young women.
The MoU was signed by FICCI FLO JKL Chairperson Varsha Bansal and GCW Parade Principal Dr. Naveen Anand. The collaboration brings together the FICCI FLO Young Women Affinity Group (YWAG) and the Centre for Women's Studies of the college.
Under the partnership, students will benefit from workshops, mentorship programmes, leadership development initiatives, entrepreneurship awareness sessions, financial and digital literacy programmes, skill development, industry interactions and experiential learning opportunities aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry.
Dr. Seema Malhotra, Convenor of the Centre for Women's Studies and the CASH Committee at GCW Parade, who played a key role in facilitating the collaboration, has been appointed as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to coordinate implementation of the partnership.
Speaking on the occasion, Varsha Bansal said empowering women begins at a young age and the initiative seeks to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, skills and networks needed to become future leaders and entrepreneurs.
Principal Dr. Naveen Anand welcomed the collaboration and said it would provide students with practical exposure beyond the classroom while helping them develop leadership and professional skills.
Among those present from FICCI FLO JKL were Past Chairperson Ruchika Gupta, Vice Chairperson Sona Mehta, Treasurer Shipra Aggarwal and Joint Secretary Deepti Gandotra.
FICCI FLO said the Young Women Affinity Group was launched during the tenure of Ruchika Gupta with the objective of preparing young women for future opportunities through education,
mentorship, practical exposure and life skills.
