Fresh batch of over 900 Amarnath pilgrims leave from Jammu base camp

JAMMU, Aug 7: A fresh batch of more than 900 Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims on Friday left for the cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas here from Bhagwati Nagar base camp.
As per officials, a fresh batch of 926 pilgrims left from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas only for the Baltal base camp in a fleet of 42 vehicles under elaborate security arrangements.
No convoy was dispatched for the Pahalgam route, they said.
The annual pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
More than 4.70 lakh pilgrims so far have paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine.
