SC Collegium recommends 10 for High Court appointments, confirms permanent judgeship of two

NEW DELHI, Aug 18: The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on August 18, 2026, approved recommen-dations for appointment of advocates and judicial officers as judges of four High Courts, besides recommending permanent judgeship for two additional judges.
For the High Court of Orissa, the Collegium approved the appointment of advocates Sasmita Tripathy, Aditya Narayan Das, Rajjeet Roy and Gautam Misra as judges.
For the Gauhati High Court, it approved the appointment of advocate Nchumbemo Mozhui and judicial officer Helen Dawngliani as judges.
The Collegium also approved the appointment of judicial officers Santosh Sharma, Sushma Sawant and Sudhir Kumar as judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
In the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Collegium approved the proposal for appointment of Justice Rohit Kapoor, Additional Judge, as a permanent judge.
For the Calcutta High Court, Justice Biswaroop Chowdhury, Additional Judge, was recommended for appointment as a permanent judge. The Collegium also recommended a fresh six-month term for Additional Judges Justices Prasenjit Biswas, Uday Kumar, Ajay Kumar Gupta, Supratim Bhattacharya, Partha Sarathi Chatterjee and Md. Shabbar Rashidi
