JAMMU, Aug 20: The Jammu-Srinagar route is all set to get a third Vande Bharat with a stoppage at Udhampur district.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, in a post on X, said, "Good news for Udhampur! In response to a popular public demand of the local population and an earnest request made by us, the Railway Ministry has agreed to include Udhampur as a stopover for the third and new VandeBharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar."
"This is yet again a reiteration of PM Narendra Modi's sensitive concern for the aspirations of the people of this region," he further posted and thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this positive and prompt gesture.
Notably, at present, two Vande Bharat trains, operating four services, run between Jammu and Srinagar.
Both Vande Bharat trains for the Kashmir Valley were introduced on June 6, 2025, initially running between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar.
