NEW DELHI, Aug 23: Two MLAs, including Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Kirari, were among six people who sustained minor injuries after two cars collided near the PWD office in central Delhi on Saturday night, police said.
The accident occurred around 9.30 pm when a car travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO hit a divider, crossed the railing, and collided with an Innova car coming from the opposite direction, according to the police.
The car was driven by 32-year-old Ashutosh Pandey, who was travelling with his wife and two minor children. The Innova was occupied by Jha and Abhay Patil, an MLA from Karnataka.
All occupants sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital for treatment. Police stated that all were stable.
A PCR call regarding the road accident was received at the I P Estate police station around 9.30 pm, after which a police team arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles.
A preliminary local inquiry suggested that the car first hit the divider before crossing the roadside railing and crashing into the Innova, which was travelling from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar.
Police stated that further investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
