GDC Nowshera concludes intramural badminton tournament

Nowshera, Aug 29: Government Degree College (GDC) Nowshera on Saturday concluded its Intramural Badminton Tournament organised as part of the National Sports Day 2026 Celebration Campaign under the theme "Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat" and the 100-Week Nationwide Jan Bhagidari Campaign against substance abuse under the theme "Khel Khelo, Nasha Chhodo".
The tournament was inaugurated on August 24 by Principal Prof Mohd Sadeeq, who encouraged students to actively participate in sports and adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
A total of 30 players participated in the men's and women's sections, showcasing their skills, sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
The final matches were held on August 29. In the men's section, Gagan Choudhary won the gold medal, Krishna Sharma secured silver and Dhrub Choudhary bagged bronze.
In the women's section, Rehana Kouser clinched gold, Afia Kouser won silver and Iram Manhas secured bronze.
The winners were felicitated with medals and certificates during an award presentation ceremony. The awards were presented by Dr Kuldeep Verma, Associate Professor of Physics. Prof Yogesh Sharma and Prof Romani Gupta were also present on the occasion.
The final matches and award ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff members.
The tournament was organised by College Director of Sports and Physical Education Goutam Sharma under the guidance of Principal Prof Mohd Sadeeq.
