DCC Jammu Urban calls for intensified grassroots outreach

Jammu, Aug 29: The District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban on Saturday held a meeting of its district vice presidents and called for intensified grassroots outreach through door-to-door campaigns, "Chopal Pe Charcha" and issue-based public mobilisation.
The meeting was convened by DCC Jammu Urban president and former minister Yogesh Sawhney and chaired by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Working President and former minister Raman Bhalla. Former MLC and senior Congress leader Ved Mahajan also participated.
The meeting focused on strengthening the party organisation at the booth, ward and block levels and preparing a sustained public outreach programme across Jammu Urban. Addressing the meeting, Bhalla called upon district vice presidents to undertake intensive groundwork in their respective areas, maintain regular contact with party workers and citizens and raise public concerns through appropriate platforms.
He said the Congress organisation can become stronger only when its leadership and workers remain consistently connected with people at the grassroots.
Bhalla stressed the need for regular door-to-door outreach and direct interaction with residents to understand their problems. He said initiatives such as "Chopal Pe Charcha" would provide a platform for people to discuss their grievances and for the party to communicate its position on issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
He also called for stronger coordination between district, block and ward-level functionaries and urged party workers to ensure that genuine public concerns are documented and raised through the organisational structure.
Sawhney said the meeting was aimed at giving clear direction to district vice presidents and shifting the organisation into an active grassroots mode.
He called upon the office-bearers to begin groundwork without delay and undertake systematic door-to-door campaigns, saying the strength of the party lay in its workers and its ability to remain connected with citizens on issues affecting their daily lives.
