PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar cadets join mega plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’

Jammu, Aug 31: As part of the Government of India's "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" initiative, the 8 J&K Girls Battalion NCC organised a mega plantation drive-cum-adoption of green space in collaboration with the Urban Forestry Division, Jammu, and Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The plantation drive was held at Mata Savitribai Phule Chowk, near Bahu Police Station and Balidan Stambh, Jammu, with the participation of 100 NCC cadets from PSPS Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Government College for Women, Parade, and GGM Science College.
The cadets actively participated in planting saplings and pledged to nurture and protect them. The identified green space was also adopted for sustained care and maintenance.
District Forest Officer, Jammu, Ashwani Kumar; Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu Province, Dr V S Senthil Kumar, IFS; and Conservator of Forests, East Circle, Jammu, Pradeep Wahule, IFS, attended the programme and encouraged the cadets to promote environmental protection and stewardship.
Col Amarjot Kaur, Commanding Officer, 8 J&K Girls Bn NCC, along with Major Praveen, Administrative Officer, and Associate NCC Officers, led and guided the participating cadets. The initiative sought to combine the spirit of patriotism with environmental responsibility, encouraging young people to contribute towards protecting the region's natural heritage.
The cadets, inspired by the NCC motto of "Unity and Discipline", resolved to remain actively involved in environmental protection and community-oriented activities.
