DCC Jammu Urban holds meeting of newly appointed general secretaries

Jammu, Aug 31: The District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban held an organisational meeting of its newly appointed general secretaries to strengthen the party's grassroots network and chalk out a roadmap for greater coordination among district, block and grassroots units.
The meeting was led by DCC Jammu Urban president and former J&K minister Yogesh Sawhney and chaired by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla.
JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra was also felicitated on the occasion and interacted with the newly appointed general secretaries. The inducted members expressed gratitude to Karra for their induction into the DCC and assured the senior leadership of their commitment towards strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
The meeting focused on defining the roles and responsibilities of the new office-bearers and ensuring greater coordination between different organisational levels.
The leaders called upon the general secretaries to maintain regular contact with party workers and the public, visit their respective areas, identify issues affecting common people and ensure that the concerns of different sections reach the party leadership. The meeting also discussed intensifying the proposed "Chopal Pe Charcha" campaign, under which Congress workers will directly engage with people, discuss public issues and take their concerns to appropriate forums.
Addressing the meeting, Bhalla said the newly appointed general secretaries had a significant responsibility in strengthening the organisational structure of Congress in Jammu Urban and keeping the party connected with people.
He said organisational strength could not be built merely through meetings at the district or state level and required sustained engagement with workers and citizens at booth, block and ward levels.
Bhalla called upon the general secretaries to work in close coordination with the district president and other office-bearers and regularly interact with grassroots workers to understand the problems being faced by people.
He said Congress must become a stronger and more visible voice on issues such as rising prices, unemployment, electricity rates, civic amenities, displacement and other concerns affecting ordinary families.
