Five-day Civil Defence basic training course begins at GCW Parade Jammu

JAMMU, Sep 8: A five-day Civil Defence Basic Training Course commenced at Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu, with around 100 students participating in the programme.
The training is being conducted under the supervision of Zia-Ul-Haq, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Jammu, and coordinated by Paramjit Kumar, Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Jammu.
The course aims to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills for responding to emergencies and disasters.
During the five-day programme, participants are being imparted theoretical and practical training in Civil Defence, disaster management, first aid, firefighting, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), search and rescue and other life-saving techniques. Principal Dr Naveen Anand, along with faculty members Dr Gurpreet Kour, Dr Nitu Sharma, Dr Atiya Syed and Prof Anuradha Kalsi, attended the programme and appreciated the efforts of Civil Defence, Jammu, in organising the training.
The college authorities expressed support for initiatives aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and equipping students with basic emergency response skills. During the course, Chief Warden Paramjit Kumar and Deputy Chief Warden R. Vijay Magotra delivered lectures on swimming and floating aids, besides explaining the roles and responsibilities of Civil Defence wardens and volunteers during natural disasters, fires, industrial accidents, road accidents and other emergency situations.
