SC Collegium recommends three Chief Justices for elevation to apex court

NEW DELHI, Sep 28: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of three Chief Justices of High Courts as judges of the Supreme Court.
According to a statement issued following the Collegium meeting held on September 28, 2026, the recommendations include Justice Sunita Agarwal, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court; Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court; and Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the High Court for the State of Telangana.
Justice Sunita Agarwal has the Allahabad High Court as her parent High Court, while Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya is also from the Allahabad High Court. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh has the Jharkhand High Court as his parent High Court.
The recommendations were made by the Supreme Court Collegium at its meeting on September 28, the statement said.
The recommendations will form part of the process for appointment of the three judges to the Supreme Court.
