KVIC organises awareness programme on footwear manufacturing, repair toolkits in Jammu

JAMMU, Sep 28: The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), State Office Jammu, organised an awareness programme on "Footwear Manufacturing and Repair Toolkits" under the Leather, Polymer and Chemical-Based Industries sector of the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana (GVY) at Shri Guru Ravidass Gurudwara, Krishna Nagar. Around 200 participants and aspiring entrepreneurs from across Jammu district attended the programme.
Prof. C.L. Shivgotra welcomed the participants and KVIC officials and encouraged attendees to understand the schemes and make use of the available opportunities.
The programme was inaugurated by Rajesh Kumar, State Director, KVIC Jammu, who highlighted KVIC's efforts to promote rural entrepreneurship and strengthen the rural economy through self-employment initiatives. He briefed participants about financial assistance available under various KVIC schemes, including loans ranging from ?1 lakh to ?50 lakh and subsidies of up to 35 per cent, subject to applicable guidelines and eligibility criteria.
Abhay Singh, Executive (Village Industries), KVIC, explained the benefits and economic potential of village industries covered under GVY. He provided information about equipment and support available for activities including beekeeping, Kumhar Sashaktikaran, Dona Pattal making, paper making, footwear manufacturing, bee boxes, plumbing, bamboo work, electrical work, AC repair and Kachchi Ghani oil production. Anil Kumar Sharma, Assistant Director-II, KVIC, delivered a presentation on the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), explaining its objectives, eligibility criteria and financial assistance for establishing new micro-enterprises. He said the applicable margin-money subsidy ranges from 15-25 per cent for the general category and 25-35 per cent for special categories, including SC/ST beneficiaries and women.
