HC promotes 11 Munsiffs as Sub-Judges

JAMMU, Oct 10: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has promoted 11 Civil Judges (Junior Division), commonly known as munsiffs, as Civil Judges (Senior Division) on an ad hoc basis.
According to Order No. 1578 of 2026/RG, issued on October 10 by Registrar General M.K. Sharma, the promotions have been ordered under Rule 7 of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Judicial Service Rules, 2025, notified on June 20, 2025.
The judicial officers promoted are Rohit Sharma, Rashi Verma, Shilpa Dogra, Poonam Gupta, Neena Thakur, Shayesta Nazir, Shahber Ayaz, Bazila Bashir, Danishta Shafi, Himani Parihar and Shafiq Mushtaq Lone.
The order states that the promotions are purely temporary and will not confer any right to regular promotion or any claim to seniority on a regular basis.
It further clarifies that the officers may be reverted to their original cadre of Civil Judges (Junior Division) if sufficient posts are not available for their regular promotion.
The promoted officers have been directed to continue at their existing places of posting until further adjustment orders are issued.
The promotions were approved after assessing the eligible officers' comparative seniority, vigilance reports and performance in accordance with the prescribed judicial service rules.
