Guru Ravi Dass Sabha holds seminar ahead of 650th birth anniversary

JAMMU, Oct 11: The All Jammu and Kashmir Guru Ravi Dass Sabha organised a seminar at its headquarters in Krishna Nagar here on Sunday to highlight the teachings, philosophy and social message of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj ahead of his 650th birth anniversary on February 20, 2027.
The seminar was held under the presidentship of Er. R.C. Bhasin, president of the Sabha, who announced that similar programmes would be organised in villages and different localities to spread awareness about Guru Ji's teachings ahead of the main celebration.
Addressing the gathering, Bhasin emphasised the importance of education in individual and social development. Referring to Guru Ji's teaching, "Madhuo Abidiya Hit Keen Vivek Deep Maleen," he highlighted the role of knowledge in dispelling ignorance and broadening human understanding.
He urged parents to provide quality education to their children and called upon the community to work collectively towards promoting Guru Ji's ideals.
Bhasin also informed that the Sabha had started free online classes for students of Classes 9 and 10 to support their educational development. He encouraged community members to contribute towards improving educational opportunities and spreading awareness about Guru Ji's philosophy.
Earlier, Prof. C.L. Shivgotra, spokesperson of the Central Sabha, welcomed the participants and explained the purpose of the seminar. He said programmes highlighting Guru Ji's teachings, spiritual philosophy and life would be organised at various places ahead of the 650th birth anniversary celebrations.
Children presented speeches on the life and teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj and performed devotional songs. The audience appreciated their performances, and all participating children were felicitated. The organisers said the participation of children made the programme particularly meaningful.
The proceedings were conducted by Tarsem Loach, general secretary of the Sabha.
