JAMMU, Oct 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached traffic personnel to headquarters and ordered an inquiry after a video allegedly showing them collecting money from truck drivers in the Greater Kailash area went viral on social media.
Official sources said Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Jammu, Amit Bhasin, initiated action after the video surfaced on Thursday.
The personnel were attached to headquarters with immediate effect, and a formal inquiry was ordered to examine the allegations.
Officials said strict disciplinary action would follow if the allegations were substantiated, emphasising that accountability and transparency were essential in public service.
In a similar incident in September, Jammu and Kashmir Police disengaged a Special Police Officer (SPO) from service and ordered a departmental inquiry against another police personnel after a video allegedly showing a policeman demanding money from a truck driver as an entry fee at a checkpoint in Lakhanpur, Kathua district, went viral on social media.
